An Elephant That Speaks "Korean" Like Human

The 22-year-old elephant Koshik in Everland Zoo in South Korea can imitate human speech, saying words in Korean  including "annyong" ("hell"”), "anja" ("sit down"), "aniya" ("no"), "nuo" ('lie down")  and "choah" ("good’).  that can be understood by speakers of the language.

"Human speech basically has two important aspects, pitch and timbre," says study author Angela Stoeger of the University of Vienna in Austria, said in a journal news release.
